why I became a beekeeper…
And honestly, I didn't plan to.
A few years ago, I was part of an entrepreneur mastermind, and one of the challenges was simple:
Slow down.
Learn something new.
Do something mindful with your hands.
At the time, life was all business, deadlines, growth and constantly being switched on.
My mind was always full.
The challenge wasn't really about learning a hobby.
It was about learning how to be mindful instead of mind full.
Most people probably took up yoga.
I bought 50,000 flying insects.
But somewhere between sweating in a bee suit and questioning my life choices, I fell in love with it.
Because the moment you open a hive, everything goes quiet.
The bees taught me how to slow down
and reconnect with what truly matters.
Bees don't rush.
They don't fight the seasons.
They simply do the work they were created to do — patiently and together.
And the more I learned, the more I realised how important they are.
Most people know bees make honey.
What many don't realise is that bees help pollinate around one-third of the food we eat, quietly supporting the entire ecosystem every single day.
In fact, a single bee will only make about one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in its whole lifetime.
One tiny bee.
One lifetime of work.
It makes you appreciate every jar a little differently.
But it also makes you appreciate something much bigger.
